戦前の同窓会誌発見が報じられる

中日新聞の尾張版（2012年2月11日）で，1940年12月に発行されたイリノイ大学の同窓会新聞が，愛知県一宮にお住まいの谷川さん宅で発見されたと報じられました．記事によると，谷川さんのお父様は1915年にイリノイ大学へ留学，電気工学を専攻して1918年にご卒業の後も1921年まで米国で働いた後帰国されたとのことです．なんと，この同窓会新聞が発見されたことが報じられるに至ったのは，愛知県設楽町の奨学生がイリノイ大で歌舞伎を披露したことを新聞で読んだのがきっかけだったとのこと．中日新聞より記事の掲載許可をいただきましたので，以下に該当記事を掲載します．

リユニオンパーティ
毎年6月あるいは7月に実施するレリユニオンパーティをはじめ，ご家族や友人の皆様と一緒に参加できるイベントを開催します

小山八郎記念奨学制度
日本の大学に在籍する日本人の学生を，毎年４名選考し，イリノイ大学に授業料無料で送る制度です．国内の各大学でイリノイ大学との交換留学制度が充実してきたのにともない，42年目の2017年を最後に本制度は終了しました
Koyama Hachiro Memorial Scholarship Program
This program selects four Japanese students enrolled in Japanese universities each year and sends them to the University of Illinois free of tuition. As exchange programs with the University of Illinois have become more established at universities throughout Japan, this program came to an end in 2017, its 42nd year.
