第31期JIC奨学生の佐藤真莉子さんが,2024年4月からニュースウォッチ9のキャスターとして活躍されていましたが，2025年4月からはNHKワールドへ活躍の場を移しました．佐藤真莉子さんは，慶応義塾大学に在学中第31期イリノイ大学日本同窓会小山八郎記念奨学生としてイリノイ大学へ1年間留学し，帰国後はTBSテレビに就職した後NHKに入局，2011年3月11日以降NHK福島局からNHK Worldを通して世界に向けて福島のことをレポートしていたことを，JIC会員の皆様には目に焼き付いているのではないでしょうか．その後本局を経てNHKのニューヨーク総局に移り，数多くのニュースを日本に向けてレポートされていたことも皆さんご存知でしょう．そして，2024年4月からNHK ニュースウォッチのキャスターとなり，1年間毎晩TVでご覧になっていたのではないかと思います．今後はNHKワールドから世界に向けて日本のニュースを発信されます．引き続き，佐藤真莉子さんのご活躍をJICとして応援したいと思います．

毎年6月あるいは7月に実施するレリユニオンパーティをはじめ，ご家族や友人の皆様と一緒に参加できるイベントを開催します

小山八郎記念奨学制度
日本の大学に在籍する日本人の学生を，毎年４名選考し，イリノイ大学に授業料無料で送る制度です．国内の各大学でイリノイ大学との交換留学制度が充実してきたのにともない，42年目の2017年を最後に本制度は終了しました
Koyama Hachiro Memorial Scholarship Program
This program selects four Japanese students enrolled in Japanese universities each year and sends them to the University of Illinois free of tuition. As exchange programs with the University of Illinois have become more established at universities throughout Japan, this program came to an end in 2017, its 42nd year.
